AdvanTec GmbH has been developing a hybrid-electric powertrain for many possible application scenarios in the areas of UAM, STOL, VTOL and light aircraft since 2016.
The research vehicle used for this is our AdvanTec 01 FES.
The development of our own battery modules and control system is a key element here.
Flight testing with the research aircraft began in Q1/22.
The aim of the third stage is to achieve a range of 2,500 km with a combustion engine or 1,300 km with a hydrogen fuel cell non-stop in Q3/25 with the integration of the range extender.

- 2013: Submission of the project idea to the Berblinger competition
- 2015: Funding approval from the BMWi
- 2016: Start of the project
- 2017: First test run on the test bench
- 2022: Start of flight testing of the AdvanTec 01 FES research platform – first flight
- 2024: Flight testing with SafeBatt2Fly battery
- 2025: Target range of 2,500 km non-stop with combustion engine or 1,300 km with hydrogen fuel cell
However, the project idea can also be transferred to many other aircraft.
