The exhaust muffler coupling is the connection between the exhaust manifold and the muffler of an aircraft engine. The original components were made from several welded individual parts, which created vibration-prone connection points. Thanks to the additive manufacturing process (SLS), the component can now be produced as a single piece from Inconel. This allows for optimized transitions and a design specifically tailored to withstand vibrations and mechanical loads. As a result, service life is significantly extended.
EASA approved this design in April 2025 as part of a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC).
